There are many sites that allow you to search for just the right cat, detailing their history, age, and pedigree. These sites usually include adoption and rescue shelters, which also provide information. You may also consider contacting your local veterinarian or animal hospital for pointers on where to find a suitable pet. Before you select a cat that you think will be the best choice, be sure to consider the following questions. Do you want a specific breed, color, or hair type (long or short)? Once you've picked out a likely cat that you'd like to adopt, it's best to take some time to get to know that particular cat. Does the cat have a personality that would mesh well with you and other members of your household? Will the cat play well with the rest of your family and pets? Also, you will need to find out about that cat's medical history, pedigree (if you are trying to adopt a purebred cat), and any quirks of personality the cat has that might be pertinent to your decision.
